New Year, New Mindset: Prioritizing Mental Wellness in 2025
As we welcome another year, many of us are excited about setting new goals, turning over a fresh leaf and making 2025 our best year yet. For some, that might mean focusing on career success, fitness or financial goals. But I want to talk about a resolution we don’t always prioritize: mental wellness.
At MentalFit, we believe that mental wellness is the foundation upon which all other achievements are built. Yet, for so many, it remains an afterthought—something we only focus on when things go wrong. I know this from personal experience.
My journey into mental health advocacy started with a tragedy that changed my life forever. When I was 17, my mother, who had battled bipolar disorder for years, died by suicide. That loss left me reeling, and it ignited a deep desire within me to support others who face similar struggles. In the years since, I’ve worked with mental health organizations and treatment centers, and the one thing that always stands out to me is this: Mental wellness is not a destination. It’s an ongoing journey—one that requires support, empathy and understanding.
That’s why my co-founder and I created MentalFit. We wanted to build more than just an app. We envisioned a community — a space where people can connect with a supportive network of peers, access helpful tools and engage with professional resources — all to nurture and address the diverse aspects of mental wellness, including emotional, psychological and social well-being. Our mission is to make mental wellness accessible to everyone, to meet people where they are on their journey.
Why Mental Wellness Should Be Part of Your New Year’s Resolution
Let’s face it: Life is busy, and it can feel impossible to carve out time for ourselves when we’re juggling work, family and everything in between. But making mental wellness a priority doesn’t require hours of your day. It’s about small, intentional actions that compound over time—things like practicing mindfulness, building healthy connections with others and learning to recognize when we need help.
At MentalFit, we’re here to support you in those small but powerful steps. Whether it’s using our app to check in with your mood or thoughts, journaling, joining our community discussions, or accessing therapy in the app through our partner BetterHelp. Every action you take can add to your wellness journey. And the beauty of this is that you can practice the way that works best for you.
2025: A Year for Mental Wellness
This new year, I challenge you to shift the way you think about resolutions. Instead of focusing solely on what you want to accomplish, consider who and how you want to be in 2025. Mental wellness isn’t just about fixing problems; it’s about creating something that is sustainable and building a strong foundation that allows you to thrive in all areas of your life.
So, as we look ahead to the possibilities this year holds, let’s make mental wellness part of the conversation. Let’s commit to being kind to ourselves, checking in with how we’re really doing and reaching out when we need support. At MentalFit, we’re honored to be part of your journey.
Here’s to a 2025 that brings us health, happiness, support and success. Together, we can make this a year we thrive — inside and out.
Wishing you all peace and wellness.
